Citation Management Tools

There are three software programs we recommend to help you manage your research and produce bibliographies: EndNote, RefWorks, and Zotero.  Trying to decide which one to use?  Go to the Tool Comparisons page in the Research Management and Citation Tools at Harvard guide.

 Refworks Logo
RefWorks is a service that manages your search results and formats your citations in a bibliography in over 800 different styles.

Harvard Librarians have created a guide for using RefWorks at Harvard to help you get started.

Endnote Logo
EndNote is citation management software that allows users to search hundreds of online library catalogues (including HOLLIS) and e-resources for the purpose of creating personal reference libraries and generating bibliographies.

Harvard Librarians have created a guide for using EndNote at Harvard to help you get started.

Zotero Logo
Zotero is a free extension of the Firefox web browser which helps you collect, manage, and cite your research sources. Zotero is also compatible with Netscape Navigator 9.0 and Flock.

Harvard Librarians have created a guide for using Zotero at Harvard to help you get started.
