Welcome to the WGS Research Guide!
The guide that follows is designed to be a starting point for research on gender issues. It offers broad coverage of the key databases (and library collections) that will support your work in women's, men's, and LGBT studies. Many of these resources come to you via the Harvard Library's rich collection of e-resources; some are freely accessible to you via the web. And some are unique to Harvard, unpublished or available only in their original (non-digital) forms.
Remember that the HOLLIS catalog will have an essential role in your quest for gender-related information. It can help you identify books (of course) and a wealth of non-book materials, too: images, films, sound recordings, finding aids to our manuscript collections, primary source materials, and more.
Sometimes a guide can only go so far, of course. See ours as an invitation to further conversation, face-to-face, with a research librarian, around a topic you're considering or even a very general question about services we can supply. We look forward to meeting you!
