Visitors may use the Harvard Divinity School Library in-person.  As long as the spread of COVID-19 remains an issue, however, visitors without a Harvard ID must provide evidence of vaccination as a condition of admission. This is done by providing required documentation and obtaining a Library Access Card from the Harvard Library Access and Borrowing Office at Widener Library.  A one-time cost-recovery fee of $25 will be charged for the card.

Acceptable photo IDs include a state-issued driver's license, a state ID card, a passport, a US military ID, a permanent resident card, or a naturalization certificate.

Acceptable proof of vaccination includes a CDC vaccination card, a photo or photocopy of the card, or a digital vaccine record. International visitors may provide an official immunization record from outside the U.S. All vaccines authorized by the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) or the World Health Organization (WHO) will meet the library’s vaccine requirement. Full vaccination must have been completed at least two weeks before the first visit. Vaccination documentation will not be collected or stored by the library, so please do not email your documentation in advance of your visit.

While on campus, visitors must observe all the safety practices required by the University to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. These include, especially, always wearing a mask while indoors and eating/drinking only in designated areas.

All visitors must register Harvard Library Access and Borrowing Office at the Widener Library.

The Harvard College Library Access Card authorizes access to other Harvard libraries as well. Those who want to borrow materials from multiple Harvard libraries can purchase that privilege.

Borrowing privileges only at Divinity can be established for no additional fee at the circulation desk of the Divinity Library for those eligible.

Use of our special collections remains free as always but requires registration.

If you arrive in person to the Divinity School during Library normal operating hours and find the main entrance to Swartz Hall locked, please call the Circulation Desk at 617.495.5788
