K-12 Toolkit for Teachers: Open Educational Resources, Open and Free Resources/Tools

We are committed to an inclusive, equitable art history. We are growing our collaborations with scholars, knowledge-bearers, elders, and others. In addition, we have specifically designed several programs to achieve a more equitable art history.

Teach a mind-blowing history course that captures students’ natural curiosity about our world. The Big History Project course is standards-aligned, adaptable to different learning environments, and has a proven impact.

EDSITEment is a partnership between the National Endowment for the Humanities and the National Trust for the Humanities. EDSITEment offers free resources for teachers, students, and parents searching for high-quality K-12 humanities education materials in the subject areas of history and social studies, literature and language arts, foreign languages, arts, and culture.

Openly Available Sources Integrated Search (OASIS) is a search tool that aims to make the discovery of open content easier. OASIS currently searches open content from 115 different sources and contains 455,499 records.

The TimeMap of World History is a comprehensive atlas and encyclopedia of world history. It contains over 650 maps and 1,000 pages of supporting text. It is designed to be easy to navigate, through both time and space.

This curriculum teaches students how to investigate historical questions by employing reading strategies such as sourcing, contextualizing, corroborating, and close reading. Instead of memorizing historical facts, students evaluate the trustworthiness of multiple perspectives on historical issues and learn to make historical claims backed by documentary evidence.
