This guide describes the biographical information available from Harvard Divinity School Library and online through the Harvard Library. It is written for Harvard Library and non-Harvard users interested in the types of information we can provide.

Current Biography Sources

Marquis who's who on the web [Harvard Login]

This database provides up-to-the-minute biographies of leaders and achievers from around the world, with emphasis on United States, in the areas of religion, business, law, science, medicine, the arts, government, entertainment, etc.  Includes all biographies that have appeared in 24 Marquis Who's Who print titles since 1985, plus historical biographies from Who Was Who in America, 1607–1985. Contents are updated daily.

World Who's Who [Harvard Login]

World Who's Who brings together current and hard-to-find biographical information on about 70,000 of the most gifted, famous and influential men and women in all fields. Includes heads of state, key ministers, politicians, diplomats and religious leaders, the famous and successful in business, finance, technology, film, music, literature, fashion, sport and a host of other professions.

Current Biography Illustrated [Harvard Login]

Current Biography Illustrated includes biographies of living persons (and their obituaries) published since 1940.  It is strong on popular culture and political figures. Occupational searches (e.g., clergy,  imam, theologian, rabbi, etc.) are available. Photographs are included for many of the subjects. Current Biography Illustrated complements the American National Biography [Harvard Login]  which includes only deceased persons.
