Best Practices for Working with Data

Security updates can be time consuming and irritating. Nobody enjoys stopping what they are working on to install updates. However, delaying security patches can put your data at risk.

Security patches are issued to fix vulnerabilities in software including both apps and operating systems. Without consistent updates people with malicious intent can exploit your data and work. For example, a flaw in your operating system might allow any user to gain administrative privileges and would be able to steal your work, leak data, and expose your private details. 

To make sure your operating system is current, please refer to the following steps:

For Windows

Select Start>Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update, and then select "Check for updates"

For Mac:

Select Apple Menu>System Settings>Privacy & Security>Advanced and then select "Check for updates"
