Many databases are offering alerting services to keep readers updated with new items related to their research interests.
--Alerts can be created after any search is executed in the database.
--Readers are notified of new items as the search is run automatically. The frequency of the alert can be specified, once a week, monthly, etc.
--You will usually be required to set up a personal account in the database.
Here is an example of how to create an alert in the MLA International Bibliography:
◊ Perform a search.
◊ Click on the "Alert/Save/Share" option above the results list.
◊ Select an e-mail alert or an RSS feed:
◊ To edit or delete an alert, Click on Folder at the top of the screen and click on Search Alerts. Options to edit, view, delete are displayed there.
