About the Theodore Roosevelt Collection

T. Roosevelt wearing a uniform standing next to a black horse The Theodore Roosevelt Collection is one of the most significant collections of material by and about TR. A department of Houghton Library, its holdings chiefly consist of primary source material, including original manuscripts, correspondence, photographs, political cartoons and ephemera, family papers, and publications. Formats of material include books, manuscripts, ephemera, realia, and audiovisual material. For a more detailed description, see the Theodore Roosevelt Collection website.

Because items in the collection are rare or unique, additional rules are in place to ensure the security and preservation of the collection. Most notably, researchers cannot enter the stacks, and collection material can only be used in the Houghton Library Reading Room.

Some material in the collection is browsable on the 2 West level of Widener Library.
