This news clipping announces that the Robertson family has donated land in Asheville on the corner of Charlotte Street and Edwin Place to the Unitarian-Universalist Church. Dr. Logan Robertson, son of Reuben Robertson, Sr., chief executive officer of the Champion Fiber Company, and his wife offered the congregation the property and it was accepted in August, 1969. Architect and church member William O. Moore designed a sanctuary, activities building and religious education building. The first service in the new sanctuary was held on May 7, 1972.

A local history sermon

The Unitarian Universalist Church of Catawba Valley began in 1962 as the Catawba Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship. The group first met at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, NC. Now we meet in their own space that they build as a congregation on 5th Street SE in Hickory. Fran is one of the oldest members of the congregation. She talks about her experiences over the years being a member.
