Finding Digitized Primary Sources

A Guide for Digital Research in History and Literature

Using This Guide

Primary sources are essential for students and faculty in the History and Literature concentration at Harvard. This guide is specifically intended to provide pathways to digital primary sources, especially online representations of physical documents and objects. For suggestions about secondary source research, see the general Guide to Research Resources for History and Literature.

A Note from the Houghton Library

From Harvard's main repository for rare books, manuscripts, and archives:
"In addition to digitizing material for faculty to use in their classes and their own research, we will also digitize material for student researchers, whether for classes, senior theses, creative projects, or other needs.  We encourage students to contact us with their questions—we'd be happy to assist."
