George Sumner Ball (May 22, 1822-Sept. 6, 1902) graduated from Meadville Theological School in 1847. He was the minister of the Unitarian Church in Upton, Mass., from 1857 to 1892. Thomas Wentworth Higginson (Dec. 22, 1832-May 9, 1911) graduated from Harvard College in 1841 and from Harvard Divinity School in 1847. He was ordained on Sept. 15, 1847, and served Unitarian churches in Newburyport (1847-50) and Worcester (Free Church, 1852-58), Massachusetts. He was a Captain in the 51st Regiment, Massachusetts Infantry (Militia), Sept. 1862-Nov. 1862, and Colonel of the 33rd Regiment, United States Colored Infantry (formerly the 1st South Carolina Colored Infantry), Nov. 1862-Oct. 1864. John C. Kimball (May 23, 1832-Feb. 16, 1910) graduated from Amherst College in 1854 and from Harvard Divinity School in 1859. He was the minister of the Unitarian Church in Beverly, Mass., from 1859 to 1870. He was a chaplain in the 8th Regiment, Massachusetts Infantry (9 months, 1862-63), (Nov. 8, 1862-Aug. 7, 1863). William George Scandlin (Feb. 16, 1828-Mar. 17, 1871) graduated from Meadville Theological School in 1854. He was minister of the Unitarian Church in Grafton, Mass., from 1858 to 1871. Augustus Woodbury (Dec. 4, 1825-Nov. 19, 1895) graduated from Harvard Divinity School in 1849. He was the minister of the Westminster Church in Providence from 1857 to 1892.
