Doodling, Drawing, Pasting, and Getting it Out
Optionally, some of you may want to explore the details of drawing and pasting and getting things from your mind and heart to the page. George recommends the work of comic artist Lynda Berry. If time allows, Dr. Lane may put these books on reserve:
- Barry, L. (2019). Making Comics. Drawn & Quarterly. On the process of making comics and setting loose the creative dragons upon your work.
- Barry, L. (2002). One Hundred Demons. Sasquatch Books. Lynda Barry draws her demons. What might you draw or write or paste in your notebook or zine if you think of climate change, encarceration, and environmental contamination and injustice as demons? What do you draw/write/paste in response to scholarly and other factual information? How might you combine the two in a persuasive message?
-
Barry, L. (2008). What it Is. Drawn & Quarterly. A treatise-in-comics on creativity.
