Harvard Scrubwomen

Corliss Lamont was an author, philosopher and a director of the American Civil Liberties Union, 1932-1954. In 1930 Lamont attempted to raise money among Harvard University alumni to pay back wages to the scrubwomen in the University library whom President Lowell fired rather than pay them the minimum wage.
