In response to Black Lives Matter and anti-racism movements in spring 2020, the Schlesinger Library undertook a project to highlight Black women's voices from within the Library's collections. This project became Hear Black Women's Voices, a platform for sharing curated audio and video clips, photographs, and other materials from the Schlesinger Library's collections.
Presenting those posts along with additional collection material from the Schlesinger Library and resources beyond Harvard University, this research guide is a resource for students, researchers, and activists - anyone - seeking to study and learn from Black women leaders.
The material in this guide was found by searching HOLLIS, Harvard libraries' online catalog, HOLLIS for Archival Discovery, Harvard's platform for searching and accessing finding aids/collection guides, and HOLLIS Images. These tools are open and available to all.
We welcome your questions about the materials and collections highlighted here. If you have questions, curiosities, or are seeking research advice, please reach out using the Ask a Schlesinger Librarian form.
