Remote Research Options

Getting Started

Note: This guide is a work-in-progress and will be updated as new resources become available.

The Schlesinger Library is open to all researchers, but if you cannot visit in person you can access an ever-increasing number of our materials online. If you would like to discuss your research plan, are seeking advice about resources, are planning a visit, or if you have any other questions - please contact us! For more information about our services please visit the Ask a Schlesinger Librarian page. In addition to email conversations we can also offer to meet with you via Zoom.

In addition to accessing digital material that is available online, remote researchers can place requests for copies of Schlesinger Library material that has not already been digitized and access previously scanned material in the Library’s Virtual Reading Room. To learn more, please visit our Requesting Copies Guide.

This guide also includes information about online resources from all of Harvard's libraries that might be useful for your research.
