Zines at Schlesinger Library

Race and Ethnicity

Zines are a form that creators with marginalized racial and ethnic identities can use to communicate and express themselves outside the traditional strictures of publishing and media. The Schlesinger's collection contains many zines by creators of color. These are often written using personal experience as a lens, although more theoretical and analytical approaches to race and ethnicity can also be found in zine form.

To find zines like these, try a HOLLIS search using the form/genre term "zines" plus a subject term like "race identityor "racism or "African American womenor "Asian American womenor "Mexican American women."
