Browse by Goal

You may browse this menu of learning objects based on the learning goals you have in mind. This abridged classification scheme emphasizes student learning vis-à-vis the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to be acquired by students via learning objects. It neither attempts to be prescriptive nor mutually exclusive; rather, it is an effort to aid discovery of particularly germane tools by librarians interested in pedagogy. When browsing by goal, you will find that learning objects are classified within specific goal categories based on learning theory (Bloom's Taxonomy and Fink’s Taxonomy of Significant Learning; Information Literacy Competency Sstandards) and research evidence suggesting that such types of learning objects are especially suited to that goal or a closely related purpose. While most learning objects can be customized to address a range of learning goals beyond these designations, it nevertheless can be helpful to identify the particular known strengths of various learning objects when trying to decide which approach to use. Browse the Learning Objects Lab "by goal" to help you do so.
