Photographs

Julia Child's husband, Paul Child, was a talented amateur photographer whose photographs extensively document their life and travels as well as Julia's professional life. The collections include photographs taken by other photographers, but the majority of the photos were taken by Paul Child.

Many of the photos (but not all) have been digitized and cataloged in the Harvard image catalog. Below are links to some HOLLIS Images searches.

Copyright in photographs in the collection taken by Paul Child and not used in any of Julia Child's books is held by the Schlesinger Library.

Copyright in the papers created by Julia Child is held by the Julia Child Foundation for Gastronomy and the Culinary Arts. The Foundation also holds copyright to any of Paul Child's photographs that were published in Julia Child's books and controls the publicity rights to Julia Child's name and likeness.

The Julia Child Foundation has a nice timeline of Julia's life on their site.
