Introduction

The Samuel Eliot Morison personal archive at the Harvard University Archives consists of two parts:

  • Part 1: Papers of Samuel Eliot Morison, 1807-1976 (inclusive)  HOLLIS record
  • Part 2: Papers of Samuel Eliot Morison [accessions], 1868-1962. (Four additions to the original collection, received since 1999.) HOLLIS record

The entire Samuel Eliot Morison personal archive was the subject of a Pforzheimer Fellowship project in the summer of 2017.

Pforzheimer Fellow Brad Bolman surveyed the full Morison archive, conducted close content analysis, conducted extensive background research to expand the biographical information, and enhanced collection descriptions.

This research guide provides access to all of Bolman's work. An archival finding aid to the SEM personal archive, incorporating both parts of the collection, is scheduled for completion in 2018.
