K-12 Toolkit for Teachers: Open Educational Resources, Open and Free Resources/Tools

We are a team of educators and designers working to bring the benefits of OER and Open Education to language teaching and learning at the University of Texas at Austin.

ELA Guidebooks is an English language arts curriculum for whole-class instruction. Made by teachers for teachers, the guidebook units ensure all students can read, understand, and express their understanding of complex, grade-level texts.

Open Up Resources began as the K–12 OER Collaborative, a 13-state initiative to address quality gaps in the curriculum market. Explore three separate collections: Bookworms K-5 Reading & Writing, EL Education K-8 Language Arts, and Odell Education High School Literacy Program.

The curriculum is designed around the following guiding principles for ELA. Explore the foundations of Fishtank ELA, including the research base, standard progression, and more information about the guiding principles.

Contains activities and intervention materials for the following early literacy skills: print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, and writing.

Contains lesson plans, resources, and activities for teaching English Language Arts in the secondary classroom.

Provides teachers with lesson plans, resources, and activities for teaching a variety of topics within English Language Arts.
