Copyright and Reuse Information
BHL does not hold copyright on any content. Each book’s copyright status and holding institution information can be found in the item’s “Volume Details”in the title display and in the “Show Info” tab in the page viewer.
There are several copyright statuses in BHL:
-
Public Domain. Public domain encompasses volumes published in the United States prior to 1925 and US government documents.
-
No known copyright.
-
In copyright. For items listed as “In copyright, digitized with permission”, the license for use is usually a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0) license. License information will appear following the copyright statement.
Status is determined by the Holding Institution. There may be different laws outside of the US.
All items in BHL are free to be re-used for non-commercial purposes. Images in the BHL Flickr are subject to the same reuse permissions. Please refer to the copyright statement in BHL (rather than in Flickr) to determine the copyright status of the item containing the image you wish to use.
