History of Public Health at Harvard

Manuscripts and archival collections for researching the history of public health, including resources related to the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health.

First Black Students

In the Fall of 2017, the School launched an archive project to identify our first Black students. Honoring and celebrating the legacy of Black Americans is something the School is dedicated to in the long-term. In an effort to fulfill this commitment, we are actively exploring how we can preserve the legacy of these individuals and their contributions to both our School’s history and public health.

Please visit the Office of Diversity and Inclusion's website to view the list of students and read the most up-to-date information on this project.
