Festschrifts

Celebratory volumes (Festschriften in German, melanges in French) are often published and presented to a prominent scholar to mark a 70th birthday, retirement, or other occasion. These very often include a biographical introduction and the recipient's bibliography.

To find them in the HOLLIS Catalog do a search of the form: <Recipient's name [Title keywords] OR Recipient's name [Subject keywords]> in Expanded Search. A Command Search of the form: <wrd= (recipient's name or other keyword) AND wqf=1> will retrieve only Festschrifts. WorldCat (in Harvard Libraries) may list festschrifts not held by Harvard.
